5 of 5 Great smoker! May 15, 2023
Reviewer: Gary J from Pittsburgh, PA United States
I’ve been smoking since 2006.  Started out charcoal and quickly moved to electric.  I had a reliable Brinkmann I had used for years, but using it in cooler weather wasn’t feasible and I wanted to upgrade.

I did some research and boiled it down to this unit vs two other similar models from other manufacturers.  Based on reviews/reputation, features, and price, Smokin-It was the clear choice for me.

Delivery and set up were quick.  Beautiful unit. The instructions were easy to follow for the programming, which is a great feature. I do most of my cooking to temp vs time, but it’s nice to have that option, not to mention programming in stages for different cook temps.  You can also save “recipes” for programs you will use again, say for brisket, etc.

After seasoning it, I did three days back to back for 3 full racks of ribs, sirloin top cap, whole split chicken, hot sausage, pork belly, corn on the cob and smoked baked potatoes.  Everything came out great!  Highly recommended!

5 of 5 Works for Me March 12, 2023
Reviewer: Ira from Little Rock, AR United States
Previous smoker was an MB and I was going to buy another one until I saw way too many negative reviews.  I couldn't see putting money into a tool that obviously doesn't have a long lifespan.  I went with the Model #2D Digital.  So far, I've smoked a rack of ribs and a 7# flat brisket.  It was my first time with brisket, and it came out delicious! If the large brisket is your thing, I think you'll want to go with at least the model 3D with longer shelves. The build quality on this smoker appears to be very good and it is holding temperature within the +- 3 degrees as advertised.  This smoker is more machine for less money than its competition.  Shipping was very fast and it was very securely packaged, it arrived in pristine condition.  I took the chance on a brand I'd never heard of and I'm glad I did.

5 of 5 Excellent First impression May 31, 2022
Reviewer: Brian Hogan from Wadsworth, OH United States
I received the smoker the week before Memorial Day and was able to season it and practice with some short ribs and 3lb pork shoulder before the big day. This thing is really built well and feels like it’s going to last. The smoker performed great and held the temp rock solid.  I really like the program feature that cooks to the set temp of the probe. Everything turned out amazing and I got lots of compliments.  My Smokin It #2 did all the work and this smoking newbie got the credit.  Cleanup was super easy.  I think I’m going to be using it a lot.

I can’t understand why they don’t drill the cold smoke generator hole in the door at the factory. You have to buy a drill press ($167.00) and bit ($18.00) to set up the smoker. I will update this after I figure this out.

5 of 5 Very high quality smoker February 7, 2021
Reviewer: Lee HAAKENSON from Hudson, WI United States
Love this smoker. PID controller is a must for sausage making. Recommend getting the cart and chip screen and use wood chips instead of chunks for low temp. smoking. I smoked summer sausage when it was -17 below outside and had no issues.  My recipes are much simpler now that I don't have vents and water pan to mess with and also didn't need to rotate racks compared to my old Masterbuilt.

5 of 5 The real deal December 13, 2020
Reviewer: Sam from Denver, CO United States
I had initially gotten the Char-Broil digital electric smoker for about $300, and it's roughly the same size and power output as this bad boy. But the food temp probe broke during the first time I used it, the remote didn't work, and it was so poorly insulated that it was hot to the touch when using (not to mention it sucked at smoking the meat). I upgrade to Smokin' It #2D, and WOW, is it worth the cost. Built to last, doesn't shake and rattle when you roll it from point A to point B, very accurate temp controls. Programmable controls with up to 6 steps in a single program - just set it and check on its progress once in a while. Would be nice to have a remote monitoring option, I didn't think the Wifi was worth the extra 100 bucks, but if you REALLY want to have that functionality, at least there's a model available that offers it. Bottom line - this thing does an amazing job. Perfectly cooked, juicy, smoky-as-hell food with very little fuss.

4 of 5 Worth Considering February 4, 2019
Reviewer: Robert S from Wyoming, United States
After 5 months and several smokes this unit performs well in hot windy weather and sub zero windy weather, holding it's temperature perfectly.  Although I am irritated by things like the shell being non-magnetic, bolts and casters not stainless and rusting and some other issues I am relatively happy with this unit.  Customer service does respond but, unfortunately, they don't seem to be interested in helping to resolve issues but have a "if you don't like it the way we make it send it back" attitude.  I would certainly consider buying this unit again if I was in the market, but not at the retail price.  If you can find these on sale or with some extras thrown in, they are worth buying for sure.  Watch the website closely as sales and specials are hard to find.  If you need a smoker, it is definitely worth comparing the Smokin-it brand with others out there.

Reviewer: Pat Campo from Franklinton, LA United States
My dad has a cook shack smoker and I found this smoker for half the price of what he paid and just as good of quality. Well done, I have had this 2 weeks and I have cooked ribs ,brisket and pork butt. Well worth it the only thing I would change is the size I would go with a bigger one. Thanks ,  Love it

5 of 5 Model 2D April 21, 2017
Reviewer: Josh F. from Somerset, KY United States
Wow... If I knew how well this works and how much I would enjoy using I would have went bigger. I find myself driving food to people beacuse it's so good. The only learning curve for me was my spices.  I read the manual that came with it for fun. No buyers remorse at all.

5 of 5 High Quality Smoker !! March 6, 2017
Reviewer: Harry from Grand Rapids, MI United States
Buyer Beware !!  Once you purchase one of these beauties and you smoke your first meal, you'll NEVER be able to eat restaurant quality smoked/BBQ meals again.  At my worst, it was still better than what you get at our typical restaurants.

My wife and I bought our Smokin-it #2D by visiting Steve at his warehouse (we live in Michigan).  Of course we called first to make an apt (April of 2016).  Steve spent nearly 45 minutes going over the unit and making sure we understood it's workings.  It was honestly one of the best buying experiences we've ever had.  Steve, thank you so much for all your help !!!

With Steve's help and all the members of the Smokin-it forum, we started out with the best smoked ribs we've ever had.  Numerous other meals followed with just as good results.  If you're thinking about buying, Do Not Hesitate !!  It will be one of the best investments you'll make.  It was one of the best we've ever made :-)
