I have absolutely no regrets with my purchase of the Model #2.  It's an excellent product, well built and it has accessories that expand its capabilities.  I worked with Steve and I can't say enough about how friendly, patient and helpful he was.  --Shout out: Thanks, Steve!--

I spent weeks reviewing smokers and it seemed the more I read, the more terrified I became.  Certain brands dominated the big-box stores but some reviews scared the hell out of me.  (What do you mean "meat smells like burnt plastic"...?)  I was almost ready to forget the purchase before making a horribly expensive mistake until I came across this site.  I'm really glad I did too.

Advice to newbies like me: it takes time to learn how to do this right.  Read up, try different recipes and advice. Above all PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.  The meat smoking community is a solid bunch of folks and the veterans are generous with valuable tips.

I bought model #2 in 2014 and have had nothing but success ever since. Never smoked anything before but love the durability and simplicity of this thing. I think they have made some improvements to this model since I bought mine which can only be positive...like handles on the side and more power. Proud to recommend this to my friends...and that it's made in America! Bravo...

I decided to wait till I had smoked all kinds of meats before i wrote an honest review,
This has to be the best Smoker on the market today. I have smoked large briskets to chickens and never had a bad experience yet.
It takes a little while to figure your exact cooking time but I've never had a bad cook yet.
It's easy to keep clean if you line it with foil.
You have a question the maker always returns your call.
#1 smoker on the market.

I was looking for an insulated smoker, checked many reviews and Smokin-it had good reviews from all over. Bought the #2 model seasoned it and smoked rib when it was in the 20s with the wind blowing, it kept the temp up and ribs were done in a  bought 4hrs. Very pleased and great that its a Michigan company.

I recently bought a model 2 electric smoker, being a seasoned veteran in the world of smoking and having multiple types of charcoal and wood smokers. I literally read hundreds of customer reviews trying to find the perfect electric smoker.  I sent a text message and an email to the Smokin It "contact us" site fairly late on friday night.  Needless to say I was surprised, or more appropriately, amazed to receive a reply to both within just a few minutes from the Owner/President of the company.  I placed the order and received the unit in just a few days.  I unpacked the unit and was very pleasantly surprised at the professional quality of the unit. I smoked 2 good sized chickens and they were as good as any I had ever done on a wood or charcoal smoker.  Oh did I mention it was only 26 degrees on the day that I smoked them.  The unit is so well insulated that you can smoke in any weather with no worries. This is a GREAT PRODUCT from a GREAT COMPANY, buy with confidence!!!

This is Eddie Golden from East Texas.  I purchased a Model 2 and just finished my second smoke.  First was Baby Back Ribs and next Chicken quarters and Half a chicken.  Both were easy and perfect.  The easiest smoker I have owned or used.  I would say it is fool proof Thanks Steve for a product that is exceptional

I don't usually write reviews, and certainly not a few days/weeks after I buy something. But I've had my Smokin-it #2 for a couple of years now and I use it a lot.  This is a great smoker that does an excellent job at smoking anything. Steve's craftsmanship is outstanding and these smokers are built to last. The #2 can easily accomodate a med-large turkey -- and  by placing the grill shelves in different locations I've never had problems with typical amounts of food (i.e. ribs, pork butt, fish, etc... enough for 12-18 people).  Great product and customer service.

I purchased a #1 last month, and the cart last week. It made great ribs and chicken, then I did salmon this past weekend, and have already been asked to do ribs and salmon for friends. So, I found someone to buy the #1 and ordered #2 to have the additional capacity. It makes outstanding food and is much easier than charcoal. Steve provides not only an outstanding product, but also customer service. I'll be recomending SI to all of my friends and colleagues. When people in Memphis say the ribs are the best the ever ate, that's saying something!

I purchased this smoker (model #2) in early June and absolutely love it.  As others have written, it is well built and produces the best ribs/BBQ/chicken I have ever eaten.  All of my neighbors have said I should enter competitions with my ribs and BBQ!!  Best BBQ ever.  Fast shipping, personal note from the owner...you just don't get that level of service anymore.  I recently purchased the cart for the model #2 and I am so glad I did.  Arrived in 2 days and just finished putting it together and putting the smoker on top of it.  It brings the bottom of the smoker to 24 inches and the top to around 46 inches and it gives you two shelves to put things on and a bottom catch all shelf.  Much more comfortable height.  It went together smoothly and I love it.  Also bought the cord hanger which is also worth its' weight in gold.  Couldn't be happier with these purchases and I look forward to many years of smoking and happy friends and neighbors!!  Thanks for such a quality product.

I didnt buy this and write a review on the first day.  I waited 2 months.  My previous smoker was a propane smoker which eventually rusted out.  I used to use a cast-iron skillet filled with wood chunks.  With the Smokin-it #2 I now use less than 1/4 of the wood I used to use.  A little goes a long way. With my old smoker, I used to set it at 250-300 degrees F.  With this smoker it's totally different.  At 250 degrees (which is the max) , I beleive because it has less airflow, it cooks as if it is at a much higher temperature.  The first few times I cooked something, I overcooked it.  Because of this I started using a temperature gauge.  I found that I had to lower the temp to 200 to 225.
Cleaning the smoker requires making sure the grease can leave through the hole into the pan.  Use tin foil and change it each time you use it.
This thing is quality built. Stainless steel will last many years. I'm sure it will last many years with the rain cover.
